About

Morag (pronounced MOR-rug, a traditional Scottish Gaelic name) is a licensed psychotherapist practicing independently in Newport Beach, California. Growing up in a family where identity and context mattered greatly, I bring a deep appreciation for individual stories and cultural contexts into my psychotherapy practice. That perspective shapes how I understand each client- not in isolation, but within the relationships, experiences, values, and communities that have shaped their life. Since 2020, I have dedicated my practice to working with college students, young adults, and adults who want not only relief from distress, but a deeper understanding of themselves and the patterns shaping their lives. My practice focuses on anxiety and self-doubt, relationship and family-of-origin trauma, and major life transitions and decisions. Therapy may involve understanding the roots of anxiety, quieting a harsh inner critic, developing self-compassion, breaking patterns of fear and avoidance, and building confidence and emotional resilience that feel solid rather than fragile. Growing up with an emotionally immature, highly critical, or narcissistic parent can leave lasting patterns of self-doubt, over-responsibility, and difficulty trusting your own perceptions and needs. Therapy can help you recognize and untangle these patterns, develop a stronger sense of self, and relate to others with greater clarity, confidence, and freedom. With thirty years of experience, I bring warmth, clarity, and a deeply attuned presence to the therapy room. My approach is evidence-based, collaborative, and focused on helping you make meaningful change. When desired, I also integrate psychology with a thoughtful Christian perspective, including space to explore questions of faith, identity, relationships, and values. Therapy with me is a place for questions, complexity, and honest exploration. You can expect thoughtful attention to your story, respect for your pace and values, and practical help with the concerns that brought you to therapy. The goal is not simply greater insight, but meaningful improvement in how you feel and function: reducing symptoms, understanding and changing difficult relationship patterns, and increasing your capacity to make intentional choices. Ultimately, therapy is about becoming more fully yourself- with greater emotional freedom, agency, courage, and confidence in your ability to navigate your life. Together, we’ll work toward helping you feel more grounded, capable, and present in the life you are building. I would count it a privilege to meet you where you are, and invite you to call or set up a free consultation. (MFT 32877)
